ChatGPT

Use Aceversity in ChatGPT as an MCP-based app/connector, or as a Custom GPT Action imported from openapi.json.

There are two routes. Prefer MCP when your plan supports custom connectors; use GPT Actions to build a shareable Custom GPT.

Option A — MCP connector (developer mode)

ChatGPT can connect to remote MCP servers in developer mode (menu names change between releases; look under Settings → Apps & Connectors):

  1. Enable Developer mode (Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced).
  2. Create a connector: name Aceversity, MCP server URL https://api.aceversity.com/mcp, authentication OAuth.
  3. ChatGPT discovers the authorization server and registers itself; approve the consent screen.
  4. In a chat, add the Aceversity connector and ask "What's due this week?".

ChatGPT shows a confirmation before calling tools that aren't marked read-only.

Option B — Custom GPT with Actions

  1. In the GPT editor: Configure → Actions → Create new action → Import from URL → https://api.aceversity.com/openapi.json. All operations appear; write operations carry x-openai-isConsequential: true, so ChatGPT asks before running them. Remove any you don't want the GPT to have.

  2. Authentication → OAuth:

    Field Value
    Client ID / Secret from step 4 below (enter placeholders first)
    Authorization URL https://api.aceversity.com/oauth/authorize
    Token URL https://api.aceversity.com/oauth/token
    Scope read write
    Token exchange method Default (POST request)
  3. Save. ChatGPT now shows a Callback URL like https://chatgpt.com/aip/g-…/oauth/callback.

  4. Register a client for that callback:

    curl -X POST https://api.aceversity.com/oauth/register -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{
      "client_name": "Aceversity GPT",
      "redirect_uris": ["https://chatgpt.com/aip/g-XXXX/oauth/callback", "https://chat.openai.com/aip/g-XXXX/oauth/callback"],
      "token_endpoint_auth_method": "client_secret_post"
    }'

    Paste the returned client_id and client_secret into the Action's OAuth settings and save again.

  5. Set the GPT's Privacy policy to https://aceversity.com/privacy (required to share it).

Suggested GPT instructions

You help a student plan their semester using Aceversity.
- For "what's due" questions call getAgenda (default 14 days).
- Find course ids with listCourses before calling course-specific actions.
- Dates are YYYY-MM-DD in the student's time zone; getMe returns their "today".
- Confirm before deleting anything. Never invent deadlines or grades — read them.

ChatGPT addresses operations by operationId (e.g. get_agenda); it may display them in camelCase.

API key alternative (personal GPTs only): Authentication → API Key → Bearer, paste a key from https://api.aceversity.com/keys. Everyone using the GPT would act as you, so never use this for a GPT others can open.
